Beauty fans have been raving about Poundland’s new £1 powder, but it turns out that it’s actually a dupe for the cult classic Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder.
One savvy shopper picked herself up the £1 bargain buy and put it to the test, comparing it to the popular Laura Mercier product.
In a recent clip, Alicia Land, a make-up lover who posts under the username @makeupbyaliciall on TikTok, shared her honest review as she compared the two make-up items.
The beauty whizz posted her clip with the caption ‘Poundland setting powder VS Laura Mercier setting powder!’.
She said: “Let’s compare the viral Poundland setting powder to the Laura Mercier one.

“This powder here [Poundland] is £1 and this one [Laura Mercier] is £39.
“Now the reason that I’ve decided to compare the £1 one to the Laura Mercier Ultra Blur Powder is because I genuinely feel like they’re quite similar so I thought today we would put it to the test and see how similar they really are.
“First off is the Poundland powder and I’m taking my Trigwell Cosmetics powder puff - the only thing I apply my under-eye powder with.
“I’ve got some on the puff and so, let’s go.

“Both of these are in the shade translucent so it is a fair test.

Alicia then applied the Laura Mercier powder to her other under-eye, as she compared the results.
She explained: “I can definitely notice a big difference.
“The Poundland side is definitely a lot brighter, gives a lot more coverage, whereas the Laura Mercier is very lightweight, you can see the darkness under my eyes popping through a little bit.
“Personally, I prefer this one [Poundland].
“This is definitely a lot smoother, a lot more airbrushed and a lot brighter than this [Laura Mercier] side”.
Alicia’s video has clearly impressed many, as it has gained 16.1k views and almost 750 likes.
TikTok users were left stunned at the bargain buy, which is a whopping £39 cheaper than the Laura Mercier classic.
